An extremely important part of the Professional Training, is for Students to have experience of seeing Clients in clinic conditions
under the supervision of a Tutor. This forms a vital and necessary part of the course structure of Professional training.
To
achieve the necessary number of Credits, the Academy requires graduates to bring Clients to the Academy clinic, to fulfil all the
stated number of Clinic sessions, at present two. Plan early to fulfil this requirement, diarise it in your schedule, and do
not leave it to the last minute. Failure to fulfil this requirement will lead to your Professional certificate being withheld.
If
a Student is seeing another undergraduate, or Graduate of the Academy on a Client basis, with proper case notes, then the Student
may bring that “Client” to a clinic session, in order partly to fulfil the academic requirements. The only exception to this
is where the two Students are in a personal relationship or married, respecting normal ethical practice.
The clients students
bring will have been informed of the current fee structure of the Clinic Sessions, and will be expected to pay for their treatment
at the time of the visit to the Clinic. The fee is £60 for 2008, payable to the assessor/tutor for the session and the administrative
expenses of the Clinic.
If the student cancels a Clinic Practice session for whatever reason with less than 48 hours notice,
the student will be responsible for paying the assessing tutors fee. The student will then be responsible to arrange another Clinic
Practice session.
The Appointments will be set up by the Principal. Clinic times on specific days will be set aside for this
purpose, and these dates will be made available to the Students. Appointments will be set up on an hour and a half basis. The Student
will need to plan to arrive at the same time as the Client if they are travelling separately.
STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
We
have over twenty nine years experience in teaching Advanced Systematic Kinesiology and helping others to use these techniques. The
Code of Practice and Ethics are provided to help students to get the best out of the course, We want every student to derive the maximum
benefits from the information both for their own development, and for those they will help with their health care.
The T.A.S.K.
Professional Training sets forth the ways to practice over a hundred specific techniques to enable the Graduates to be of outstanding
service to those in need. All techniques have been clinically tested by physicians, and are perfectly safe when carried out as demonstrated
and practiced in class. However, it is to be stressed that the
Foundation Courses “basis” should be the basis of all treatments.
COURSE RESPONSIBILITIES - COURSE ATTENDANCE
Punctual attendance at all sessions is required for graduation. Failure to attend
any of the course sessions, or absence from part of any sessions will need to be made up and arranged with a tutor.
The cost
is £150 per missed module and will be the responsibility of the student, to pay the tutor.
If a day is missed, and not made up
in good time,
becoming qualified and receiving your certificate will be delayed.
CLINIC PRACTICE
Attendance is mandatory
at the required number of clinic practice sessions. To fulfil this valuable part of the course takes careful advanced planning. Although they are not an examination, they are assessed from a professional standpoint of organisation, and responsibility. Failure to do the required sessions will result in postponing certification.
WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS
Written case studies, are
a very important part of the overall work of the Professional Course. The work is expected to be handed in on time, this being eight
case studies per month. Failure to do so will result in you not receiving your certificate.
WORK LEFT UNDONE, COULD THEREFORE
LEAD TO
GRADUATION BEING DELAYED!
CODE OF CONDUCT
Punctuality:
The Faculty are responsible for starting the sessions
on time. This policy will be adhered to even if everyone in the group is not present. Please plan to arrive early. When
a drinks break or lunch break is announced, please be responsible to be back in your seat at the time requested. This is so we can
cover all the material in the time allotted. It is irresponsible and lacking in courtesy to the tutor and to the group to be late
for class. Lateness on the part of the student, unless due to exceptional circumstances, will be regarded as missing part of the course.
Clothing:
Please
wear clothes that are loose and comfortable, and which will not cause any embarrassment when work shopping in various positions. Students workshop on treatment couches so please allow for that in your selection of clothes.
Personal Responsibility:
Everyone
in the class is encouraged to take care of their own needs. If you are too hot, or too cold, or suffering from lack of air,
of if you are uncomfortable or cannot hear, please change your position. The Tutor will always facilitate whatever needs to be done
for everyone’s comfort. So long as they are made aware of a problem. If you need to visit the toilets, please go whenever you
feel the need without waiting for a break, as the facilities are usually limited, and we wish to avoid queues and unnecessary delays
at break times.
Work shopping with others:
In any group, there will always be people you find easier to work with than others. Avoid work shopping with the same person, or persons in the group. Make it your aim to work with each person in turn, regardless
of your personal feelings. This will stand you in good stead, as we cannot always choose people that we like or are drawn to
as clients, and it will prevent anyone from feeling they are being avoided for any reason.
“Other Therapies”:
We have experts
in many varied branches of health care attending our course. Everyone is requested to concentrate solely on Systematic Kinesiology
while in the classes. Please do not introduce other modalities, such as reflexology, iridology, reiki, shiatsu etc., into the
context of the Practitioner Course. We appreciate that all therapies fit into overall scheme of things. Systematic Kinesiology
can be used as a stand alone therapy, and also by anyone as an adjunct to complement their own skills in other areas. In this
Course, you will need all the practice you can get, so be sure you maintain Systematic Kinesiology as the focus.
Food & Drink
:
Please do not eat in class during the sessions. Eating sandwiches, fruit, nuts, seeds, or other foods in class is not
acceptable. If you find you really need to snack, please wait for a break. We are aware of the need for many people, especially
those suffering from low energy of Hypoglycaemia to eat regularly. The breaks are set out with this in view, although you are
not allowed to eat your own food at the venues.
Water
is supplied in virtually unlimited quantities. Please do not consume any other types of drinks in the class room. They invariably
get spilled, and stain carpets.
“Business Opportunities”:
Some who take the Course have agencies, franchises, and distributorships
for supplements, nutrients, and other items. Although in principle we applaud entrepreneurial activities and ways to develop business,
we do not permit T.A.S.K. Course attendees to engage other students in discussions, contracts or sales without prior permission from
T.A.S.K. offices.
Equipment and Supplements:
We have built up a very good relationship with Insurers, and supplies over
the years. We select the best products in each field from years of experience with many thousands of people. We recommend
only those products which work best, regardless of their source or any advantage T.A.S.K. may or may not have from its relationship
with any company. Our professional Code of Ethics & Conduct constrains all our Members only to offer products for sale that
are safe and effective, regardless of any personal income that might accrue from their sale.
Personal Hygiene:
“If you have
B.O. you’re the last to know, the saying goes.” Professionals cannot afford to err in this area. It is a sensitive topic,
and although every care may be taken by individuals, the effort involved in the work shopping, or nervousness may mean that additional
thought and attention to personal hygiene has to be given to avoid any problems arising. Once in practice, clients will tend not to
make subsequent appointments with unhygienic practitioners!!!
WORKING ON OTHERS
PLEASE OBSERVE THESE VERY IMPORTANT GUIDELINES
WHEN
WORKING WITH OTHER STUDENTS OR CLIENTS
1: Only EVER work by PERMISSION!
Never, ever attempt to persuade, coerce, or use emotional
blackmail to persuade others to let you work on them, especially other students or your relatives. This only leads to disaster. Nobody likes the “foot-in-the-door” type salesperson. Sessions set up in this way usually go badly wrong. However well-meaning
our intentions, however sincere our desire to help, pushing our knowledge or ideas invariably results in giving offence.
Who
can we help, and what should we tackle?
We can help people address and resolve many common ailments. To be on the
safe side, always ask if they have consulted or might want to consult a doctor. Learn to use what you know, and “stay within
your castle”. Only take on helping people with conditions you know are within your capabilities. Refer all others to another
Registered Professional Practitioner, or if at all concerned their Doctor. As you learn more techniques during the modules,
like how to deal with “Irritable Bowel Syndrome “ or the ICV, you will draw those people to you, therefore building your own confidence.
2:
Massaging Neuro-Lymphatics, and rubbing the body.
ALWAYS ask, “Is there any reason why testing you might cause a problem?” (Arthritis,
Polymyalgia, Sprains, Injuries, etc.) Contraindications: ALWAYS ask a person if they have any prominent or varicose veins before attempting
to rub the body, especially the legs. Ask if they have any history of illness which might be aggravated by massage. When
working on NL points, only ever rub to the tolerance of the person to reasonable discomfort. Everyone’s pain threshold is different. If a person grimaces, but says the discomfort is bearable, that is fine. If they distort their body as you rub, you are probably
rubbing too hard.
3.We do not “diagnose”, or “label” people.
In T.A.S.K. we do not treat disease or pathological processes, we
treat people. Graduates of the T.A.S.K. Professional Training Course, and Professional Members of A.S.K. are forbidden to diagnose
or treat any pathological condition. Nor is it right or desirable to cause clients to form any negative view of their health
picture as a result of their interaction with a Kinesiologist.
Please avoid any statements like “I think you have Candida”. “You
have a Kidney problem”. “I think you are allergic to...” These subjects may better be broached with someone by making positive, caring,
informative and supportive statements like:
“Balancing and cleansing the bowel with herbs often results in restoring the balance
of the helpful flora in the Large and Small Intestine, and you will feel better”.
“Working on the Kidney Meridian, and its related
muscles and taking Beta-Carotine on a regular basis often seems to help balance the energy in the Kidney circuits”.
“The Gluteus
Medius muscle is often strengthened by vitamin E which helps scavenge free radicals from the body, and taking it regularly for a month
or so helps balance that circuit”.
“Your Psoas muscle is testing below maximum energy, and this hair tug test can indicate that
you would benefit from drinking more pure water. Drinking adequate water, which is the only substance we put into our mouths
that does not require digestion, cleanses the body from toxic waste and helps maintain the electrolyte balance of the body”.
